Matt Mulready B Music, Grad Dip Education, MTS Apprenticeship, Grad Dip Divinity
The AYF Management Committee is delighted to introduce you to our full-time SRE Teacher, Matt Mulready. Matt moved to Armidale in 2016 with his wife Katrina and family to accept this appointment. His presence in Armidale Secondary College has been truly impactful, as he upholds the good news of Jesus with students, staff and the school community.
Here’s a quick hello from Matt:
I am delighted to be teaching SRE full-time at Armidale Secondary College. I am thankful to God for the vision of the Armidale Christian community to provide SRE for students to make informed life choices, responding to God’s revelation of himself in the Bible and through his son, Jesus.
Here’s a brief background of how I came to be in Armidale…
While previously working as a classroom Music Teacher in regional NSW the highlight of my week was supporting the Spiritual Wellbeing of students in the Inter-School Christian Fellowship group. I decided to stop teaching crotchets and start teaching the cross.
I completed a Ministry Apprenticeship with Chris Little at Albury Bible Fellowship, and theological study at Sydney Missionary & Bible College, and in 2009 I started teaching Christian SRE (Special Religious Education), coordinating a team of volunteers, training students in Christian leadership, leading an ISCF group and contributing to community life at Killara High School.
In 2015 I had the privilege of contributing to the development of the Think Faith SRE Curriculum. It was around this time that AYF were looking for a new teacher, as well as looking to introduce the Think Faith curriculum in the SRE program.
My wife, Katrina, and I were looking to move back to regional NSW and Armidale sounded like a good fit. The strong community of Bible-believing churches who shared our vision for SRE in public high schools was appealing to us. We jumped at the chance to move to Armidale and are thankful to God for being here.
