Online Only Auction Items

The following section of paintings will be for online auction only and will not be offered in the live auction.

Bids for items in the online only auction can only be made online via this website.
NO LIVE BIDS WILLBE TAKEN DURING THE LIVE AUCTION AT THE DINNER.

The winner will be the highest online bidder at the close of the auctions at 8:20pm on Saturday 6th April 2019.

Online bidding will be available on the website during the dinner via your tablet/mobile device and a number of devices will be made available to place bids during the evening if you would like some help with bidding.

Online bidding for online only auctions works like on eBay. So while you enter the maximum bid amount you would be willing to pay, AYF will automatically bid on your behalf up to this maximum. If the item ends for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. Eg if you place a maximum bid of $500 and the next highest bidder’s maximum is $400 then you will pay $410 for the item as AYF program will bid up for you automatically to the lowest amount required to secure the item.

When viewing auction items below, please take note of whether the item is a “Live Auction” item or a “Online Only Auction” item and the corresponding end times.

Bonne
Original 1789 Bonne hand-coloured copper-engraved map of New Guinea with inset maps. This is a wonderful compilation of several explorers’ voyages around Papua New Guinea, with coastal discoveries and voyages by Captain Philip Carteret, Captain William Dampier and Captain James Cook, and depth soundings along Captain Cook’s track after leaving Australia – to the north through the Endeavour Strait, and along the south-west coast of Papua New Guinea. It is a superb original map for Bonne, published in Paris circa 1788 on thick hand-made paper for Voyage du Capne Carteret in Bonne’s ‘Atlas Encyclopedique’, which is considered by many to be the best-known summary of all of Cook’s maps pertaining to the discovery of Australia.
